Congratulations to Nishan Velupillay for his selection into the Socceroos Squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers against China and Japan.

As a footballer, you would say Nishan Velupillay is a magician with the ball, he has the natural flow that all young players in Australia should aspire to develop. Nishan is an attacking weapon who is capable of unlocking tight opposition defences. He scores goals and is incredibly deceptive and effective with the ball at his feet. He is innovative and creative, plays with his head up and finds so many ways to play forward, whether its breaking lines, going past a player in a 1v1 situation or playing clever well timed forward passes. Coming from a lineage of football fans, Velupillay’s path into football was written early on. “My Dad loves it and used to enjoy playing. He loves watching it still and Mum and Dad were very encouraging when I was young,” he explains. “My older brother still plays and also coaches at FTS (Football Technique School). I spent a lot of time at FTS – that’s where I really raised my game after starting out at Endeavour United.
