Mikey Ghossaini (2007) – Signing Melbourne City U18s

On behalf of FTS coaches and staff, it’s time to say goodbye and best wishes to Mikey Ghossaini – leaving FTS to join Melbourne City U18s in 2023 to begin the transition into senior professional football.

Mikey Ghossaini arrived at FTS in late 2017, at the age of 10, and spent 5 years developing his game into becoming a formidable ‘goal scorer’.

2021 – 33 goals in 22 NPL matches

2022 – 37 goals in 24 NPL matches

As a reward for his hard work and dedication, earlier this year Mikey was selected in the FFA U16 National Identification Camp and subsequent inclusion as shadow player in the U16 National Team (Joeys). This was particularly significant given Mikey was born in 2007, and this Joeys cohort is for players born 2006. In 2023, Mikey will be fighting for a place in the Joeys to compete at the AFC U-17 Asian Cup and subsequent FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.

Mikey is a striker with a very high ceiling. He can play as the lone striker or in a front two. He is a clinical finisher with both sides of his body, has exceptional technical abilities, is deceptive, has quick feet, explosive and can go both ways in 1v1s. Mikey has learnt the striker positions and movements, he has excellent timing with the patience & discipline to be effective. He has an instinctive side to his game, which makes him very dangerous around the box. He has the ability to receive in tight situations with his back to goal, is able to turn and face forward as well as linking to bring others into the game. Mikey is very intelligent and a street-smart footballer.

Mikey has a strong mentality, he is extremely hard working, resilient, eager to learn and loves competing. He is also a top young guy from a very supportive family.

To all our young players at FTS – Mikey Ghossaini is a player to follow as he progresses into senior professional football. We would love to see him reach his dreams of playing in one of the Top 5 Leagues in Europe (English Premier League, Bundesliga in Germany, Ligue 1 in France, La Liga in Spain, Serie A in Italy).

To Mikey, everyone here at FTS is behind you as you enter the next phase of your development and strive for senior professional experiences in the Aleague and beyond. Goodluck!

Note:

And a special mention to Max Mihailidis (2009), who was with FTS for 5 years from 2017-2022. Max is joining his brother Jack and cousin George at Melbourne Victory. We wish Max all the best in the next phase of his development.

And also to Jensen Bowering (2009), who was with FTS for 4 years from 2018-2022. Jensen is joining Melbourne City. We wish Jensen all the best in the next phase of his development.
