Update – young goalkeeper Sam Banyai (2010) has signed with Debreceni VSC. Sam is currently playing with DVSC Academy in the U15 National competition.
Debreceni VSC are one of the most prominent clubs in Hungary and play in the top tier professional football competition. They have won 7 titles since 2000.
Sam Banyai is an imposing figure in goals. He has a strong physical presence and already 184cm in height at 14 years of age. Sam is a goalkeeper that fills the goal, making it quite difficult for opponents to establish clear lines to score. Additionally, with his height and reach, aggression, courage and command of the area, he intimidates others, particularly when dealing with crosses and set pieces.
Despite his size, Sam is agile, explosive, has quick reflexes and can cover ground quickly. He excels at shot blocking, and has clean hands.
Sam has worked hard on his footwork, balance, touch and distribution, this has become a key strength in his game.
In recent years, Sam has developed his counter attacking game, often creating advantages by seeing opportunities for early, quick distribution, both short and long. It is common to see Sam make a key save, then within seconds he is up and driving to the top of the box to instigate a swift counter attack.
Sam is extremely competitive in training and matches. He has a strong mindset, is hard working and resilient.
