U16 National Team Identification – Mikey Ghossaini

Congratulations to current FTS player Mikey Ghossaini (2007) for his selection in the FFA U16 National Identification Camp and subsequent inclusion as shadow player in the U16 National Team (Joeys).

Mikey Ghossaini arrived at FTS in late 2017 and is currently playing in our U15 squad. He has developed into a formidable ‘goal scoring machine’.

2021 – 33 goals in 22 NPL matches

2022 – 37 goals in 24 NPL matches

Mikey is a striker with a very high ceiling. He can play as the lone striker or in a front two. He is a clinical finisher with both sides of his body, has exceptional technical abilities, is deceptive, has quick feet, explosive and can go both ways in 1v1s. Mikey has learnt the striker positions and movements, he has excellent timing with the patience & discipline to be effective. He has an instinctive side to his game, which makes him very dangerous around the box. He has the ability to receive in tight situations with his back to goal, is able to turn and face forward as well as linking to bring others into the game. Mikey is very intelligent and a street-smart footballer.

Mikey has a strong mentality, he is extremely hard working, resilient, eager to learn and loves competing. He is also a top young guy from a very supportive family.

To all our young players at FTS – Mikey Ghossaini is a player to follow as he progresses into senior professional football. We would love to see him reach his dreams of playing in one of the Top 5 Leagues in Europe (English Premier League, Bundesliga in Germany, Ligue 1 in France, La Liga in Spain, Serie A in Italy).

Congratulations again from everyone here at FTS to Mikey for his selection as a shadow player in the U16 National Team.

Additional Notes:

Congratulations to Ben Dunbar (2006) for his Joeys selection. Ben played a couple of seasons at FTS and travelled to Germany with us back in 2017.

Congratulations also to Daniel Graskoski (2007), who was selected as a shadow player for the Joeys, an absolute top tier young goalkeeper, who played with FTS for many years when he was younger and developing his feet.

A special mention to George Mihailidis (2006) and John Kellis (2006), both spent 4-5 years at FTS and now playing at Melbourne Victory & Melbourne City respectively. George & John were involved in the previous Joeys camp.

All will be in contention for the upcoming AFC U16 qualification process and the subsequent U17 FIFA World Cup squad in 2023.
