FTS Highlights (Players aged 6-10 years)

This video highlights package was taken on Monday 15th November, 2010. The players are all between 6-10 years of age and into the 7th week of an 11 week skill and technical developmental program.

FTS 3v3 Tournament - PART A

On Saturday 31st October, FTS hosted a 3v3 tournament, here are some of the highlights - the visiting players were from Football Tekniq. PART A - the boys in this video are aged between 6 and 10 years. ENJOY!!

PART B - the FTS boys in this video were born in 1998, the Tekniq boys are 1997. ENJOY!!

FTS 1v1 Tournament

On Saturday 24th October, we ran a 1v1 Tournament for boys and girls from within the FTS program. Here are a few highlights from the games. The boys are aged between 6 and 12 years, whilst the girls are between 11 and 14 years. ENJOY!!

The FTS Developmental Philosophy

You often hear stories about certain events or circumstances that change a person's life, well for me it was a visit to Clairefontaine (French National Training Centre) in 2006. As well as personal interviews with Aime Jacquet and other French youth technical coaches, I was guided through the age specific developmental training curriculum. The message was very simple:

"an individual players technique (or technical ability) is the most important developmental element".

Gerard Houllier took it one step further when he suggested that if a player at 16 years of age didn't have a satisfactory technique, there was no way of ever catching up.

In recent years, my research and knowledge of the Dutch and Spanish youth developmental approaches has further helped me to understand the importance of providing a specific environment conducive to advancing a youth footballers technical ability.
