FTS to Conduct Final Talented Player Program Trial

Final Trial for the FTS Talented Player Program

FTS are currently in the process of finalising 1st round placements for the Talented Player Program.

Given the level of enquiries since the completion of Sundays trial, combined with those that were unable to attend, FTS are conducting a 2nd and final trial early next week for those that have yet to attend. See below for details:

FTS Talented Player Program Trials

Tuesday 15th September
6.00pm - 7.15pm
Elwood Park, Elwood

This is a grass surface, so players can wear boots.

All players MUST wear shin-pads and please remember a water-bottle.

Please note that this trial is ONLY for those players that were unable to attend last Sunday, or those that are new to register and have not yet attended an FTS trial.

The FTS Developmental Philosophy

You often hear stories about certain events or circumstances that change a person's life, well for me it was a visit to Clairefontaine (French National Training Centre) in 2006. As well as personal interviews with Aime Jacquet and other French youth technical coaches, I was guided through the age specific developmental training curriculum. The message was very simple:

"an individual players technique (or technical ability) is the most important developmental element".

Gerard Houllier took it one step further when he suggested that if a player at 16 years of age didn't have a satisfactory technique, there was no way of ever catching up.

In recent years, my research and knowledge of the Dutch and Spanish youth developmental approaches has further helped me to understand the importance of providing a specific environment conducive to advancing a youth footballers technical ability.
